If anyone asked my opinion, I would say, if you have a Typepad blog, pay the extra few dollars per year to register your domain and set up domain parking through PairNic . TypePad and PairNIC work beautifully together.
Here's how.
1. Sign up and register your domain name at PairNIC
2. Go to your TypePad blog. Hit the "Control Panel" tab -> Hit the "Site Access" tab -> Click "Domain Mapping" -> Click the "Begin Here: Map a Domain Name" Button
3. Type in the domain name you just registered at PairNIC, and click "Get DNS Setting"

4. TypePad will find the settings for your new PairNIC domain ... but ALL you have to do is click "Complete Final Step"

5. Well, it not the FINAL final step -- there are a few more. Since many people maintain several different blogs on TypePad, all under one account, the next thing TypePad asks is, to which blog do you want the domain name applied (mapped)?

6. Now go back to PairNIC. Click the "Manage Your Domains" section, click on your domain name. On the next screen, just ignore all the Name Server stuff, and click "Domain Parking"

7. Cheerfully agree to all the disclaimers and agreements. When you reach the Domain Parking screen, type in just the "top level" of your TypePad blog address. Mine in this example is cheryljns.typepad.com -- No forward slash after the .com

8. Wait. Most times, I find it takes about 90 minutes for the new domain name to resolve, although once it took a full 24 hours. Check every so often by typing your new domain name in your browser -- it will either go the the PairNic Parking screen, or it will go to your blog. When it goes to your blog, you know it has "resolved "and you can complete the FINAL final step
9. Sign in to TypePad. Hit the "Control Panel" tab -> Hit the "Site Access" tab Hit "Domain Mapping" Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and look under "Your Domains" . Put a checkmark in the "Active" box to the right of your domain name and click "Set"
