To open on a static page
Click "Settings" at the upper right corner of the Dashboard
Click "Reading"
At "Front page displays" check "A static page" and choose a page from the drop down list.
If you have not already done so, click "Write", "Write Page" and create a new page titled "Blog". Just type in the title. Do not write anything in the page text box. Save and publish it.
Now go back to "Settings", "Reading", "Front page displays" at the drop down menu for "Posts page" select the new page titled "Blog" that you just created.
Bingo. Now all your posts display on the "Blog" page, and a static page of your choice, opens as the main front page.

Hi! I'm just building my first Wordpress site based on the Thesis theme. Using your instructions above, how do you select the "Home" page to be the static page that first opens? It doesn't show up in the drop box under "Front Page Displays", "Front Page".
Thanks!! - John

One other note- I followed your directions, and now my posts are showing up on both the Blog page, as well as on the Home page. How do you make the Home page a static page, and the one that shows first? Thanks!
